About Us

The development of innovative techniques in the treatment of aortic and iliocaval diseases, and their implementation in the daily practice of vascular specialists in Bulgaria, requires us to organize a unique monothematic multidisciplinary event dedicated to this pathology. The host of the event is the Military Medical Academy Sofia under the patronage of Major Professor Dr. Ventsislav MUTAFCHIYSKI.

Sofia Aortic Days Mission

The mission of the scientific forum is to present the most modern methods in the treatment of aortic diseases and the results achieved from their application worldwide, as well as to put Bulgaria on the world medical map as one of the countries where modern methods for the treatment of aortic and iliocaval diseases are used daily.

One of the main focuses is the education of young specialists and trainees, including their theoretical and practical training, as well as fostering bridge-building and experience exchange with foreign centers and universities.

Sofia Aortic Days Format

The main scientific program is divided into sessions covering all aortic segments. In addition, we have an ilio-caval session and a session for the opportunities of international partnerships in solving complex aortic cases.

The main topics of the scientific program are debates about the approach to treating aortic and ilio-caval diseases and forming a consensus based on evidence.

Live cases will be a part of the main program, as well as an opportunity for the audience to ask direct questions to the operators and suggest their way of treatment.

Workshops are also included in the program, as the motto says: "Ready, steady, hands-on." Main topics will include the treatment of complex aortic aneurysms, aortic arch procedures, closure devices in aortic procedures, CERAB, etc.
